Big Day of Sport!

Oct 20, 2007 in Sport

Well, I’m just off to another day of sport! Currently Everton are winning 1-0 in the Merseyside derby, then I’m off to watch Hyde Vs Barrow in the Conference North. Then it’s a dash home to see a bit of Villa Vs Manyoo on the telly, and out to watch a rather interesting game of rugby league. It’s the Northern Union Vs the All Golds, two representative teams playing a rematch of the first ever international game of Rugby League which took place 100 years ago.

After that, it’s just the small matter of the Rugby World Cup final. For what it’s worth, I think the Saffas will turn us over, that’s who I’ve got my £20 on anyway - I hope I lose it! Not forgetting that I’ll be keeping an eye on the Man City score at home to Birmingham and Lewis Hamilton’s final push for the F1 GP title, it looks like a good weekend of sport - just wish I was in Paris! Have a good day y’all!

New iPod Classic and Shure E2C Headphones

Oct 19, 2007 in Technology

Woohoo - I got my nice shiny new iPod classic today. Just syncing it up now - I’ll let you know how I get on.

One thing that has annoyed me for ages about the iPod is the rubbish headphones they provide as standard with them. The new ones that come bundled with the new “Classic” are at least a bit rubbery, but the sound quality of them really doesn’t do the iPod justice. It’s like buying a Porsche, but the dealer giving you a mixed set of bargain remould tyres. It really doesn’t make sense!

Anyway, I’ve decided to plump for these Shure E2C Headphones, they look pretty decent, and the most popular earphones by the same manufacturer come in at £250 or so!!

Right, I’m going to go and have a play with it now, I’ll let you know how I get on. It was a bit of an impulse purchase, but the ex left a window open one night and my car, TV and iPod got nicked, now she’s taken all her stuff - today - I thought I might start replacing some of it.#

Sad/Happy

Oct 18, 2007 in Waffle

I keep thinking of the Abba lyrics - “Breaking up is never easy” and it makes me sad.

Then I hear the next line (in my head) and it’s “Knowing me knowing you” and I just can’t help but shout Ahaaaa! In a big gay Alan Partridge voice, and that soon cheers me up!

Annoying Things #37

Burning your last slice of bread when making toast at 1am. Scrape the black bits off, or bin it and go hungry?

Disco 2000

Oct 11, 2007 in Music, Waffle

“Do you remember, your house was very small, with woodchip on the wall?” as Jarvis Cocker said.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the bloody woodchip was still on Jennifer’s wall when he went to meet her in the year 2000. I suspect that the woodchip on the wall of my bathroom has been there since this place was built in 1897. It’s a right bugger to get off, make no mistake. Luckily, I’ve got hold of a steamer, which makes life a bit easier, but it’s still a bastard.

I’ve been meaning to get the bathroom refurbished for about 2 years now, and I finally choose to do so when Jenny leaves. She’s found out and isn’t best pleased - she had to live with a crap bath for 2.5 years, and now the week after she leaves I get it sorted. It wasn’t intentional, just that the estate agent came round, said I should get a new bathroom and that he’d just had one done. So I’m using his mate, and it’s costing £500 for all the labour, which isn’t bad - it’ll take about a week I would think. Just need to buy bath, tiles and all that gubbins now!
